In its commitment to realising gender diversity and inclusion in the mining industry and acknowledging the critical role women play in the sector, the Minerals Council’s Women in Mining Leadership Forum (WiMLF) runs an annual campaign to celebrate women who make a notable contribution to the South African mining sector through the annual Women in Mining (WiM) Heroes celebrations.
Globally, the awareness of the impacts of mining activities on society, including mining communities, natural environment and economy has increased and has gained momentum. Businesses are embracing sustainability principles which underpin their strategies and policies, with a view to achieving sustainable growth, creating shareholder value, while increasing and maintaining public goodwill.
Through this initiative, we shine the spotlight on female trailblazers who have been nominated by their peers and have achieved remarkable feats in their respective organisations and the mining industry, in sustainability in mining. This is someone familiar with the principles of people, planet, purpose, and profit, who demonstrates visionary leadership in advocating, promoting, and incorporating strategic planning for sustainable mining in their company’s practices.
The WiMLF is delighted to announce this year’s WiM Sustainability Heroes.
Congratulations to the 10 Minerals Council Women in Mining 2024 Sustainability Heroes
