The Women in Mining programme of the Minerals Council South Africa hosted a breakfast to mark International Women’s Day under the theme: For ALL Women and Girls:  Rights. Equality. Empowerment. The event was in recognition of the remarkable contributions made by women in mining and their efforts in driving sustainability.

Mining company members and stakeholders in the mining industry engaged on critical topics affecting women and sustainability. Conversations by changemakers centred around the progress and challenges experienced by women in the State of Mining as well as an address on United Nations Women: 30 Years from Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The event culminated in the announcement of the WiM 2024 Sustainability Heroes.
